How It Works
We follow a structured approach to help maximize your learning experience.
1. Initial Session
We’ll discuss the role of a Mashgiach throught the shift including, efficient setup of washing station followed by an introduction to the
P-W-C method.
2. Second Session
Diving-in to Prep-Washing-Checking of the fruits & veggies.
Then learning to operate in a flowing manner, followed by training to find and identify the various forms of bugs.



3. Third Session
Introducing new and more complicated greens to work with, alongside more challenging bugs to identify. This session should complete the course outline.
4. Fourth Session
In this last session, we review all we have learnt in theory and practice with expectation to be fluent in all without hesitation including, roll practice for upcoming test.

What can I expect from the Kosher Veggie Course?
This veggie course is well designed and specifically tailored to the individual focusing on their specific learning style. You will learn to prepare all fruits & veggies for kosher consumption and gain the necessary knowledge in becoming a competent Mashgiach. The course is laid out in a way that will provide specific methods in a uniform manner setting you up for success in easy learning, remembering and always operating at a most efficient level.
How long is the course?
The course is divided into 4 sessions to be completed over a two week period followed by a last session in which you will be tested on all you have learnt. Each session will vary between 3 to 4 hours in length.
When are the courses offered?
Presently, the courses are offered in the evenings Sunday through Thursday starting at 8:30pm.
What materials are needed for the course?
We will be taking lots of notes so please bring with a pen and notebook (not invidual papers). Also when you are scheduled, you will receive a link to the Mashgiach's toolbox where you can pick up the items you will need in checking for bugs.
What if I am an active Mashgiach with experience, do I need to take the whole course?
This is a newly designed course that is required of all Mashgichim regardless of past experience which is specific to the ORB standards and policies. You will also be learning methods that will ease your process and make you much more efficient.
